Our first two blog posts focused on women who have closely worked with Naturally Drenched but this time we are bringing the focus to female founders of beauty companies.

From groundbreaking innovations to unwavering determination, these entrepreneurs have captivated audiences and redefined beauty standards. Whether you're an aspiring entrepreneur seeking motivation or a beauty enthusiast craving behind-the-scenes stories, you're in for a treat.

So, sit back, relax, and let's celebrate the visionaries and trailblazers driving change in the world of beauty. Get ready to be inspired, because these women are rewriting the rules and leaving an indelible mark on the industry.

Divya Gugnani - Wander Beauty & 5SENS

Divya Gugnani is an entrepreneur and beauty aficionado who joined forces with Lindsay Ellingson, a globetrotting supermodel in 2015 to create Wander Beauty: a line of effortless beauty essentials designed to accommodate the needs of busy individuals, no matter where life takes them.

After co-founding Wander Beauty, she established 5SENS after the onset of an autoimmune disease that caused allergic reactions to fragrances. This challenged Divya to find a way to manufacture fragrances that didn’t trigger sensitivities - their formulations are phthalate and formaldehyde-free.

Divya’s commitment to sustainability became her guiding compass in creating beauty brands that help women look their best while being healthy.

Nancy Twine - Creator of Dream Makers Founder Grant & Briogeo Founder and CEO

The Dream Makers Founder Grant emerged from Nancy's desire to offer vital, early-stage financial backing to female entrepreneurs from underrepresented backgrounds. Unlike conventional funding avenues, this grant was meticulously crafted to provide support without demanding equity, relinquishment of rights, or repayment obligations. Its purpose is clear: to empower female founders to focus wholeheartedly on their vision, ensuring they have the necessary resources to navigate the critical early stages of their startups.

Her haircare brand, Briogeo, is a way of upholding her mother’s legacy as a doctor and chemist. With a deep-rooted belief in the potency of natural ingredients, Nancy's mother pioneered the notion that beauty products could be both powerful and effective when crafted from nature's bounty. This profound insight continues to inspire Nancy as she leads our company forward, dedicated to harnessing the potential of natural ingredients to create innovative and transformative beauty solutions.

Monisha Edwards - Scent & Fire

Monisha is deeply committed to advocating for mental health, raising awareness about gun violence, and shedding light on spinal cord injuries.

Her journey into the world of advocacy and entrepreneurship was catalyzed by a profound personal experience: becoming her father's caregiver after he was tragically shot and paralyzed in 2017. Throughout this tumultuous period, Monisha grappled with her mental health challenges, confronting depression and severe anxiety head-on. In search of solace and healing, she turned to the therapeutic practices of aromatherapy.

Determined to understand the scientific underpinnings of scent's impact on human emotional behavior, she learned about psychology and fragrance science which led to the creation of Scent & Fire

Sarah Happ - The Lip Expert

Since concocting the inaugural Lip Scrub in her kitchen back in 2005, Sara Happ has earned the moniker of The Lip Expert®, dedicating herself to tackling every conceivable lip woe with effective formulas that stand apart from the rest. Nearly two decades later, Sara and her all-female team remain at the forefront, consistently introducing what beauty editors hail as "Why Didn't I Think of That?" products that resonate with us all.

In 2005, after encountering the repetitive advice to "exfoliate lips with a wet washcloth or toothbrush," Sara recognized a gap in the market. While she had scrubs for every other part of her body, her lips remained neglected. So, she took matters into her own hands and whipped up a solution in her kitchen.

After that, Sara collaborated with a chemist to craft the perfect lip balm, birthing The Lip Slip. Since then, it's been an exhilarating journey marked by a succession of pioneering lip launches.

Maekaeda Gibbons - Brown Sugar Babe

Aromatherapy emerged as a simple yet effective tool for Maekaeda in managing her stress levels. Her immediate relief from inhaling pleasant or calming scents sparked a desire to share this discovery with others and explore the intersection of aromatherapy and self-care.

Brown Sugar Babe was born with a mission to integrate aromatherapy seamlessly into daily life. Despite the complex reputation often associated with aromatherapy, its essence lies in the simplicity of using scent to interrupt negative mental and physical processes.

As the CEO and founder, Maekaeda’s commitment remains steadfast to maintaining simplicity - her focus remains on upholding fragrance integrity through rigorous testing and attentive consideration of customer feedback and scent preferences. Grounded in the original mission of promoting self-care in everyday routines, her dedication persists in crafting products that genuinely rejuvenate the mind, body, and soul.

Rose Ingleton - Rose Ingleton MD

The genesis of Dr. Ingleton's journey traces back to a serene moment on the shores of Jamaica, where she found herself captivated by the tranquility and splendor of her homeland. It was during this visit that the seed of an idea was planted—an aspiration to infuse the essence and allure of Jamaica into her professional endeavors, thus sparking the conception of a clean, effortless skincare line. From the selection of ingredients to the design of Rose Ingleton MD, the influence of Jamaica serves as an unwavering muse for her brand.

Dr. Rose Ingleton reflects on her journey in her own words:

“As with many things in life, my path as a dermatologist didn’t follow a straight line—in a sense, dermatology found me. Growing up in Jamaica, I didn’t know any dermatologists. It was only during a clinical rotation in med school when I discovered my love for helping people feel at ease in their own skin. To me, that’s what it’s all about.”

Sabrina Elba - S’ABLE Labs

The inception of Sabrina Elba's brand stemmed from a deep-seated desire to cater to the unique needs of melanin-rich skin by harnessing the potency of powerful African botanicals. Grounded in tradition, Sabrina and her team drew inspiration from African ancestral rituals and ingredients, strategically formulating products with clinically proven compounds that impede the excessive production of melanin.

Central to their philosophy is the deliberate exclusion of sensitizing agents known to trigger inflammation, a common precursor to hyperpigmentation. Recognizing the intimate link between inflammation and skin discoloration, they infused their formulations with potent African anti-inflammatory botanicals, aimed at soothing and shielding irritated skin.

At the forefront of S'ABLE Lab's battle against hyperpigmentation lies our patented Hyperprevent™ technology. This innovative approach disrupts, defends against, and curtails the overproduction of melanin, matching the potency of African botanicals with cutting-edge scientific advancements.
